In the uncompromising world of national newspapers even the picture of the year is useless if its not delivered on time.
Gone are the days - little more than a decade ago - when photographers would race to the nearest station with their film to beat a London picture desk deadline. Now all work is sent digitally - either from our Bradford premises or from photographers on location.
Thanks to clever software and fast telecommunications a set of pictures can be on a score of newspaper desktops within minutes of being sent. And now digital cameras, which remove the need for processing and scanning film, have cut turnround even more.
